WHEELERS HILL GARDEN

Faulkner and Chapman designed a Low maintenance, low water use landscape around a contemporary house. The site is sloping so a series of retaining walls were built as planter boxes to help connect the house and garden. On the upper patio a 'Zig-Zag' shaped waterfeature is incorporated. 2-Storey high glass windows look over the waterfeature and out to views of the Dandenongs. We retained existing indigenous Eucalypts on site (Eucalyptus cephalocarpa) and added low maintenance natives and exotics to complement the tree canopy. In combination with the waterfeature, the existing trees and new plantings had the effect of bringing much birdlife into the garden.
